During the past three years I've been to Mexico, Italy, Spain, England, France, Greece, Portugal and Amsterdam. This blog is about what I learned from these travels; I want to share with others what I learned from seeing the world.
When I was abroad I would catch myself
thinking "Why do girls in France dress like they are going out to a party
when they are only going to school?" In the States we wear Uggs, sandals
or tennis shoes to school not 6 inch heels. I would also ask myself "Why
do the French eat snails? Or why do they eat cockroaches in Thailand?"
Seeing all this made me wonder WHY?
It was interesting to hear what different
people had to say about my culture. & I'm going to be honest at the
beginning I would get offended, but after a while I started realizing that the
whole time I was doing the same thing...just by judging their culture.
Living abroad for such a long time made
me realize many things. It made me see the world through
someone else's eyes. & who ever knew that the discoveries I was
going to make were going to change me completely!
I am excited to go more into detail with
specific ideas about culture. In some posts I want to write some culture's
views, thoughts, and customs and I want to tie them together with my personal
experiences. I will also be interviewing people around the world just so we can
see it through someone else’s eye. Down below I'm going to put a list about
some ideas that I want to get into.
People in Thailand eat cockroaches 0.0. That was quite surprising. I can't wait to read more about your blog I have gone through some culture shocks myself, and I have only been to mexico and Japan.
